Importing natural stone from Turkey is straightforward once you understand the five moving parts: MOQ, payment, Incoterms, shipping and customs.

1. MOQ

For heavy goods like stone, MOQ is usually “one container” because part-loads are uneconomic. Ask for price at 1×, 5× and 10× MOQ to find volume breaks.

2. Payment terms

T/T (30% deposit, 70% before shipment) is standard once trust is established; L/C for large first orders; escrow for new relationships. Never pay 100% up front to an unverified supplier.

3. Incoterms

FOB (you arrange freight, cheapest/most control), CIF (supplier covers freight+insurance to your port), DDP (delivered to your door). New importers often start CIF and move to FOB.

4. Shipping & containers

A 20′ container carries ~28 tonnes; for dense stone you hit the weight limit before volume. Plan MOQ around weight.

5. Customs & documents

Commercial invoice, packing list, Bill of Lading, Certificate of Origin (EUR.1/A.TR for EU), correct HS code, plus CE/test reports. Confirm the HS code and duty rate before ordering.
